Beyoncé is ready for her close-up — again. The singer will be the subject of an HBO special, hitting a TV near you in February 2013. The network announced that it will be a
feature-length special that gives fans "intimate" access to the singer, who will
also serve as the director and executive producer of the yet-unnamed
project.

"HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity,"
Beyoncé said in a statement about the February 16 special. "Some of my favorite
shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold
programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right
home."

Described as a "multi-faceted portrait," the special will include personal
footage, some of which was shot by Beyoncé herself on her laptop, as well as
vintage home movies of the superstar from her childhood growing up Houston. The
film profiles the singer from her youth to the pop icon she is today and follows
Queen B as she plots her next phase after the
birth of daughter Blue Ivy back in January.

"Everybody knows Beyoncé's music, but few know Beyoncé the person," added
Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming. "Along with electrifying footage
of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a
vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."

This is hardly B's first foray into the world of documentaries. She has been
the star of several concert specials, including 2010's "I
Am ... World Tour" and 2011's "Live at
Roseland." She also starred in the MTV documentary "Year of 4"
back in 2011. It followed the singer during the recording process for her 4 album release
that year.
