Congressman Shot as Gunman Opens Fire at Congressional Baseball Game

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and three of his aides were shot Wednesday morning, June 14, in Alexandria, Virginia at a practice for the GOP congressional baseball game. Scalise was shot in the hip, one of his aides was shot in his chest, and two Capitol Hill security police agent's were also shot. All were transported to urgent care.

The shooter was shot and injured when he was taken into custody. CBS News reported the suspect used a "M4 assault rifle" and that the congressman's security detail returned fire at the shooter, firing 50-100 shots in at least 10 minutes.

Our thoughts are with Scalise and the three other victims of this horrific event.
