(Yahoo!) - Natalie Cole has every right to be upset with Thursday’s finale episode of “American Idol.”

During the broadcast, Jennifer Hudson performed Cole’s staple hit “Inseparable” with Season 12 winner Candice Glover.

Cole, who won the 1975 best new artist of the year Grammy award, complained via Twitter at 8:30 p.m. PT Thursday. “Make no mistake. ‘Inseparable’ was NOT originally recorded by @IAMJHUD but by ME,” she wrote.

Cole slammed the singing competition for the decision. “@AmericanIdol ought to be ashamed of themselves!Im seriously offended! # #Idol #idolfinale,” Cole wrote in a Tweet that she has since deleted.

“Inseparable,” the title track of Cole’s 1975 gold-certified debut, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart.
